Biography

Louis married the love of his life, Paulette Leroux on August 4, 1958. Their union
produced 6 children, Michel, Robert, Paul, Renee, Denise and Charlotte, 6
grandchildren, Nicole, Michelle, Aimee, Hunter, Matteo and Dante and 2 greatgrandchildren,
Briar and Peyton.
As a young man fresh out of high school, Dad spent two years at the Royal Military
College in St. Jean, Quebec where he studied engineering. While there, he played
football for the college team and boxed. Engineering did not appeal to him so he left
RMC and completed his CA requirements by correspondence through Queens
University while starting a young family and working full time in an accounting office.
Before moving to B.C., Dad had an accounting practice in Haileybury. He also made a
run for the M.P. seat for the Temiskaming riding in 1968 at the ripe old age of 32. He
came a very close second to the incumbent, Arnold Peters.
Dad had a very successful CA practice in Prince Rupert but became restless with that
work and sold to his partners. He then was involved in a number of business ventures,
some more successful than others. Despite some down times Dad never allowed
adversity to get the best of him. He pursued his goals with an amazing tenacity and
seemed to be at peace with his work and his life in Port Alberni, where he and Mom
were living when he passed.
Dad had moved his family out to British Columbia from Ontario in the summer of
1969. Our first home in British Columbia was in Tsawwassen BC for a year then we
moved to Prince Rupert BC and stayed there 10 years until our family moved again in
1979 to Kamloops BC.
While we lived in Prince Rupert, Louis and Paulette would take their kids out fishing
and camping almost every weekend. There were also the summers that we would
travel back to Haileybury in the truck and camper (I don’t know how they did it!). Dad
did upgrade to a motorhome eventually. We would spend hours listening to either Neil
Diamond or Nana Mouskouri on the 8-track player while travelling on our numerous
adventures.

There were a few more moves after we lived in Kamloops for 4 years. Cache Creek,
Richmond, Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows and lastly Port Alberni. This last move to Port
Alberni is where Dad found employment as the Financial Manager for the Nuu-chahnulth
Band in 2000. This would be his last job.
This would sadly be Louis and Paulette’s last move as Louis suffered a heart attack
with complications while he was on his boat on Gold River and was admitted to the
Victoria General Hospital. On August 29, 2001 Louis was surrounded by his loved
ones and passed away to join his Mom, Dad and siblings who had predeceased him.
Louis and Paulette will be forever missed.
