My mother was a Sergeant teaching Morse code, and my father was a Private and was one of her pupils. " "My father was graduated from Morse code school, and was assigned as a radio operator in airplanes and served in the Pacific Theater. He was the radio operator in cargo planes ferrying supplies over "the hump" (the Himalayas) from Burma to China. "
