Born in Galveston County, to Charles Eber and Eva Ida (Brashier) Hoke, she had lived in Honey Island for thirty-four years.
Survivors include her son, Walter Hales and wife Ora; daughters, Ida Hales, Melinda Downs and husband Bob, Karen Kirkindoll and husband Eugene, Mary Dill and husband Norman; twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
