105.th INFANTRY WILL LOOSE MORE OFFICERS

Lieutenants Vannier and Thompson to Resign at Expiration of 90 Days* Leave - Activities at Camp Smith.

Two officers of the l05th Infantry, who are at present on 90 days' leave of absence, will tender their resignations at the end of their leaves, it was learned today. The men are First Lleuts. Walter E. Vannier of Company D, Troy, and Andrew H. Thompson of Company B, Cohoes.

Lieutenant Vannier, who Is a prominent business man here, said today he will tender his resignation
at the close of bis 90 days' leave. He resigns for business reasons. Lieutenant Vannier is a valuable officer, both to his company and regiment and his loss will be sorely felt.

NATIVE TROJAN GRADUATES FROM AIR FORCE SCHOOL

Lt. Col. Walter E. Vannier - Complete Special CourseIn Management

Lt. Col. Walter E. Vannier, native Trojan and veteran of World I and World War II service, has been graduated from the Air University's Military Management School at the Special Staff School, Craig Air Force Base, Ala He is stationed st llsmilton Air Force Base, Cal.

Colonel Vannier was one of a class of 34 senior Air Force officers representing all major Air Force commands at the management school. The course emphasized efficiency and economy in Air Force operations by ths use of principles of management as treated by business and industry. Human relations, organisations, methods improvement and managerial controls were studied in the course.

Colonel Vannier is the son of Mrs. Charles J. Vannier of 396 Sixth Avenue. He enlisted in Company D, 105th Infantry, Just before the regiment left for the Mexican border ia 1916 and later served with the company In France as first sergeant. He remained in the National Guard and when the105th Infantry was federalised in 1940, left for Port McClellan, Ala., as captain in command of Company D. Ha later transferred to the Air Force and served in the European theather of war.

On D-Day he flew over Normandy with the air invading forces, covering territory over which, more than a quarter of a century before, he had plodded as an infantryman.
